Strategic Planning Committee

The Chancellor of WCU has defined and established a strategic planning and budgetary framework that includes formalized procedures that incorporate feedback on directions and action items from key stakeholders (e.g., Executive Council, budget hearing process and strategic planning committee). Specifically, the Chancellor has created a Strategic Planning Committee to ensure campus representation (Strategic Planning Committee Diagram).

The role of the Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) is advisory and evaluative. Specifically, the SPC will annually –

  1. review the operational elements of the strategic planning framework (strategic directions, performance outcomes and institutional indicators);
  2. develop metrics, monitor progress of projects, develop and monitor institutional scorecard, act as campus voice and dissemination of planning information.
  3. make recommendations in priorities and/or revisions to the strategic planning framework;
  4. collect comment and share changes/revisions with the campus community;
  5. receive, incorporate where appropriate, and disseminate information from the Office of the President in the University system and/or the Chancellor relative to the strategic planning framework;
  6. function as an advisory group for the executive council and chancellor on areas related to the institution’s mission; strategic plan; and institutional effectiveness framework; and
  7. annually report on the institution’s progress in fulfilling its mission and addressing its strategic directions.
